Unlike many hair restoration surgery clinics, our patients will meet with either Dr. True or myself. We will listen to their concerns, make a diagnosis, go over their complete medical history, come up with a plan that's appropriate for their patterned loss, if appropriate, and recommend surgery or medical therapy or nothing at all depending upon their situation. During our consultation, if we determine that the patient is a good candidate we will lay out a surgical plan according to what we see fits the patient the best according to their need and their donor supply and characteristics of scalp. There are times when I meet with patients in which I don't feel that they're good surgical candidates because it won't meet their expectations or they don't have enough donor supply to fulfill the deficit in the recipient area. So there are times in which I eloquently try to convey to them they're not a good surgical candidate and I have to turn them away. In general there is no preparation that needs to be done prior to a hair restoration consultation. However, if a patient is wearing a hair system or a hair weave it is beneficial to have it removed prior to coming to our consultation. This way we can do a thorough examination of the scalp and hair and let them know if they're a good candidate for surgery or not or medical therapy. I think one of the most important elements of the consultation is to truly connect with the patient, for me to understand their desires and their expectations. If interested please feel free to call our offices to set up a free complimentary consultation.
