Understanding Factors That Shape Hair Transplant Cost
Because hair restoration surgery is considered cosmetic and not covered by most insurance plans, treatment cost is a serious consideration. Generally, the price will depend upon the technique used and the extent of your hair loss. When researching hair transplant cost and determining whether a treatment can fit into your budget, it is important to view the surgery as an investment that can improve both your appearance and confidence. At True & Dorin Medical Group, located in New York, New Jersey, and Boston, Dr. Robert J. Dorin or Robert H. True will discuss the various factors that will determine your unique treatment cost, and then guide you through the process to achieving fuller, thicker hair.
It is our goal to provide the most effective care to each and every patient, regardless of financial constraints.

Determining Cost
During your consultation with one of our doctors, we will first sit down with you to learn more about your goals. Understanding your concerns and ultimate objectives will allow us to provide an estimate for the cost of your care. General factors that shape price include:
- Hair restoration technique
- Total number of grafts required
- Surgeon's experience and training
- Pre- and post-operative care
- Any necessary medications, including anesthesia
Because of the personalized approach and differing needs of individual patients, pricing will differ from one individual to the next. Some may undergo FUT (follicular unit transplantation), FUE (follicular unit extraction), a blend of the two, or an additional option.
Cost of FUT
At True & Dorin, FUT is a high-efficiency process with a lower cost. Follicular unit grafts (1-3 hairs) cost $5 - $7 each depending on the size of the treatment area. FUT sessions can range from 500 - 3500 grafts.
Cost of FUE
FUE is more expensive than FUT. Depending on the scope of the treatment area, patients can expect to pay between $7 -10.00 per graft. FUE sessions consist of 500 -2,500 grafts.

Investing in Your Well-Being
When patients begin to lose their hair or see signs of thinning, they often feel self-conscious about their appearance. They may change their hairstyle, wear hats or scarves, or become less social. Similar to how others invest money into correcting a compromised smile or hiring a personal trainer to improve their physique, a hair restoration procedure can deliver that same renewed sense of confidence.
Financing Available
Hair transplant cost is substantial compared to other treatment options, like topical products and supplements. However, most patients find the lasting results are well worth the investment. It is our goal to provide the most effective care to each and every patient, regardless of financial constraints. For this reason, we accept various financing options:
- Prosper Healthcare Lending®
- CareCredit®
- Lending Club®
We also accept major credit cards, checks, and cash to cover the cost of your procedure.
