We are convinced that our FUE process is the most effective at this time, but we may incorporate the robotic system depending on its development.
ARTAS Evaluation and Limitations
Our evaluation of the ARTAS robotic system has led us to find:
✖ The healing in the donor area for some patients may not be as good as we see it with our technique of using extremely sharp punches.
✖ The ARTAS robot uses dull punches. Our concern is that the dull punches may produce fibrosis and scarring in the extraction sites that is not seen with sharp punches.
✖ The robotic technique can only be used if large areas of the donor area are completely shaved.
✖ The ARTAS robot can only be used for scalp harvesting.
✖ The ARTAS robot tends to produce grafts that are stripped of tissue in deeper levels. This leaves hair follicles naked and more vulnerable to drying and trauma during graft placement.
Our FUE Process Allows Us To:
✓ Perform many treatments with a partially shaved donor scalp.
✓ More focused FUE procedures without shaving the scalp at all.
✓ Enables us to also use body and beard hair as additional donor areas.
✓ Improved healing of the donor area due to sharper punches.
✓ High-quality, robust grafts that have a good amount of supportive tissue necessary to assure optimal survival and growth.
